I would like to introduce you to our new trainer, Dave Cochran, who will be leading our Fargo location and overseeing our new dog sports programs. These programs include scent detection, tracking, advanced obedience, and bite work.
Dave is a 20-year law enforcement veteran, having spent 18 years with the Fargo Police Department and the last 2 years with the Clay County Sheriff’s Office. Over the course of his career, Dave has held many roles, nearly half of which were spent as a K9 handler.
Dave began his K9 career as a decoy with the Fargo Police Department. In 2009, he was selected to be a K9 handler and attended the St. Paul Canine Academy in St. Paul, MN. Dave was initially paired with K9 Kimber, who was eventually washed out, and then paired with his new K9, Falco. Together, Dave and Falco completed their training through Can Am K9, and Dave has also helped start and train dogs with Can Am K9.
Throughout their career, Dave and Falco earned many medals and citations from the United States Police Canine Association (USPCA) and the National Police Canine Association (NPCA). One of their career highlights was appearing on the national television show Top Dog and as a guest host on Live PD. Although those experiences were exciting, Dave says nothing was more rewarding than helping his coworkers locate suspects who were actively evading law enforcement or hiding contraband.
Dave has always had a passion for dogs and is excited to be a part of Elevate Canine Academy. We are thrilled to have Dave on board and look forward to offering these new services to the Fargo community.
